Athletic Programs, Community Support and Youth Empowerment
Empowering at-risk youth through athletic programming and community

Our Purpose
How can you help?
Our purpose is to organize recreational activities and opportunities for individuals, primarily youth, who do not have the means or opportunities to do so themselves. AltruSpirit believes play is a universal language that improves the physical, social and emotional well-being of young people and that all should have ample opportunities to participate.
Additionally, AltruSpirit will always take opportunities to improve the community when they arise.
OUR MISSION
Empowering at-risk youth through athletic programming and community
Our mission is to empower at-risk and financially disadvantaged youth in the Charlotte area by providing access to high-quality athletic programming and equipment. We are committed to fostering a sense of community, discipline, and personal growth through sports, ensuring every child has the opportunity to develop their skills, build confidence, and achieve their fullest potential both on and off the field.

ABOUT US
HOW WE STARTED
AltruSpirit was formed in June of 2022 in partnership with SportsLink and Bottoms Up Events.
SportsLink started as InterLink around 2000. InterLink was started as a charity basketball tournament at First Union (now Wells Fargo) that grew into a social organization with sports leagues, social events and community support events (from school and park cleanups to food and toy drives). InterLink became SportsLink in 2010 and has flourished in Charlotte with Sports programming and events, eventually breaking off its bigger social events and festivals into another entity called Bottoms Up Events around 2019. Both companies raise and donate significant funds to local charities, but wanted to also get back to their roots of helping the local community with direct programming and community events. In 2022, AltruSpirit was formed.
OUR NAME
AltruSpirit’s name came from the idea of the Spirit (the quality of courage, energy, and determination or assertiveness) of Altruism (the unselfish devotion to the welfare of others). The name of AltruSpirit is meant to highlight putting energy into improving the welfare of others.
PROGRAMS
We collect and purchase sports equipment to be donated to local (and some not so local) charities to enable children to learn and play sports.
We host sports clinics for youth players (we want to do MORE of these!).
We provide scholarships to under privileged kids to participate in local club sports.
We provided funds and resources to repair a church softball field in Western North Carolina that was heavily damaged from Hurricane Helene.
